academic foundation established in primary years, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed for higher grades.

About Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme

Cambridge Lower Secondary is a world-class curriculum for learners aged 11 to 14, offered by nearly 2300 schools in over 130 countries. It is designed to stretch, challenge, and inspire students. It aligns curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment for effective teaching and learning, preparing students for the next step in their Cambridge Pathway (IGCSE and AS & A Levels).

The Lower Secondary Curriculum

The Cambridge Lower Secondary program is flexible, allowing the curriculum to be tailored to the needs and culture of each school while remaining internationally relevant. At AIS, we have shaped the curriculum around the learning standards recommended by NCERT. Students study English, Math, Science, Global Perspectives, Gujarati, ICT, and choose a third language from Hindi, French, and Spanish. While focusing on core subjects, students also have plenty of opportunities to develop creativity, expression, and well-being.

Enhanced Reading and Writing Program


Reading is essential for lifelong learning. Our Enhanced Reading Program includes Fountas & Pinnell’s Benchmark Assessment Systems (BAS) to improve independent reading levels, a novel study program analyzing critically acclaimed novels, author events, and access to an expansive library with 10,000+ books. Students also explore various writing styles and types to enhance their writing skills.

Applied Math Program


At AIS, we believe everyone is a math person. Our Applied Math Program empowers students to forge connections between theory and real life. With a dedicated math lab equipped with digital and physical resources, an applied math specialist, and Ei Mindspark for extra practice, students engage in hands-on projects and Mindspark assignments, immersing in engaging and explorative learning.

Hands-on Science Program


Engaging with scientific concepts through hands-on learning deepens understanding. In our science labs, equipped with digital aids, models, and apparatus, students engage in observing, hypothesizing, experimenting, and analyzing results. They conduct experiments, visualize concepts, and apply scientific thinking through projects, field trips, and real-world investigations.

Foreign Languages Program


Learning new languages offers social, cultural, and cognitive benefits. Students in Grades 6 and 7 can choose between Hindi, French, or Spanish. Skill Live International’s expert teachers focus on practical language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The program emphasizes fluency and cultural immersion, preparing students for real-world interactions and deeper connections.

Coding, Robotics, and Design Thinking Program + AI


The future belongs to makers! In our state-of-the-art makerspace, students bring ideas to life by learning and applying skills in coding, robotics, woodworking, electronics, and design thinking. They also take a short Artificial Intelligence course, applying their learning to a project. They showcase their passion projects at our annual MakerFest.

Visual Arts Program


Art is a powerful means of communication and self-expression. In our visual arts studio, students spend two blocks a week learning diverse 2D and 3D techniques, exploring various materials and media, and diving into art history through museum and gallery visits. In our annual art exhibition, Kala, students showcase their creations to the wider community.

Sports Program


Sports build both mind and body, equipping students with critical life skills. In partnership with Sportz Village, our program offers students a choice to build skills in basketball, football, or cricket. With Sportz Village's experienced coaches they develop their talents and participate in year-round sports events and intra- and inter-school competitions.

Performing Arts Program


Our Performing Arts Program fosters creativity, communication, and confidence. Students select Dance, Music, or Theatre, led by experts from Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts, Indie Productions, and Shankar Mahadevan Academy. They explore diverse styles and techniques, and develop their talents, culminating in impressive year-end performances and showcases.

Financial Literacy


Early financial literacy empowers students to make informed financial decisions. This program focuses on essential money management, including budgeting, saving, investing, and smart spending. Through interactive activities like budgeting exercises, role-plays, and event planning, students gain practical experience to confidently navigate real-world financial situations.

Extra Miles Program

To reinforce Math and Science concepts, two blocks per week are dedicated to the Extra Miles class. In small groups, students work on past papers and worksheets for 15-20 minutes, followed by discussions on answers, concepts, and common errors, ensuring a more personalized and effective learning experience. The smaller group setting fosters a supportive environment, enhancing understanding and mastery of the subjects.
